SCA FUNDING
School Condition Allocation (SCA) funding is a crucial government initiative aimed at maintaining and improving the condition of school buildings in the UK. This funding is allocated to larger multi-academy trusts (MATs), local authorities, and voluntary-aided schools, enabling them to address significant capital maintenance needs. SCA funding ensures that educational facilities remain safe, functional, and suitable for providing a high-quality learning environment.
SCA funding is provided annually to eligible educational institutions to support the maintenance and improvement of their buildings. The key focus areas for SCA funding include building condition, health and safety, compliance with building regulations and projects that are sustainable and energy efficient.
SCA FUNDING IS FOR:
- Local voluntary-aided bodies and voluntary-aided school
- Academies and large multi-academy trusts (MATs)
- Local authorities and local-authority-maintained schools, including maintained nursery schools
- Sixth-form colleges
- Non-maintained special schools
- Special post-16 institutions with eligible students
PPM SURVEYS
PPM surveys are a crucial tool to enable building owners / Tenants to maintain the Building Fabric and Mechanical & Electrical installations proactively whilst managing and improving their asset over a specific period of time.
For the PPM's required we will agree a suitable format with the Trust prior to undertaking site visits to each school to ensure all required elements are captured within the reports. We would propose to gain a full understanding from the trust regarding their priorities i.e. Health and Safety, Safeguarding, School closure risks etc. This would allow us to tailor the reports to suit the Trust’s needs, subsequently informing the wider Estates Strategy.
ESTATES STRATEGY
The information we gather from the surveys will allow us to advise the trust on an Estates Strategy in line with your priorities. We would prioritise Health & Safety followed by M&E and Fabric elements to prevent school closures. The high-level document would include the following:
Dovetail all the individual reports to construct a Trust wide estate strategy that is accessible.
Benefit realisation that can be made and make recommendations to the Trust where required.
Work with the Central Senior Leadership Team to finalise the strategic plan for director’s sign off.
Review the strategic plan with the Leadership Team annually to monitor progress, including risks.
Advice on budget costs and timescales for identified works detailed in the Estates Strategy.
Identify the most efficient and productive procurement route for each unique project.
